Every Day Matters: SLPS Recognizes Attendance Awareness Month

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS) is reminding students, families and our entire community that every school day matters.

Attendance is one of SLPS’ Core Four priorities because students have the greatest opportunity to learn, grow and succeed when they are in school, on time and ready to learn.

Every day in the classroom gives students another opportunity to strengthen their reading and math skills, connect with teachers and classmates, participate in activities and experiences, and continue building toward their future.

Attendance Is a Team Effort

Strong attendance takes all of us. Families can help by establishing consistent morning and bedtime routines, scheduling appointments outside of the school day when possible, and staying connected with their child’s school when challenges arise.

We also know that real barriers can sometimes make getting to school difficult. SLPS schools and staff are here to partner with families, connect them with resources and help students stay engaged in their education.

This Attendance Awareness Month, we encourage every student, family, staff member and community partner to help us build a culture where showing up matters.

Every student. Every day. Together like never before.

Together, we are building a stronger, Future Ready SLPS.

Statement from Saint Louis Public Schools Regarding Accreditation Status

Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS) acknowledges the Missouri State Board of Education’s decision to grant the district provisional accreditation rather than full accreditation. While district leadership is disappointed with the outcome, SLPS remains fully committed to addressing the issues that contributed to this decision and to restoring full accreditation.
